Our Mission

Our mission at Banksia Farm is simple:

"To promote the genus "Banksia" and be recognised as the premier world destination for Banksia plants, flowers, artifacts and knowledge."

Company Profile

Banksia Farm is an interpretative retreat for tourists, wildflower enthusiasts, botanists, Banksia lovers and students alike.  It boasts the Worlds Only Full Collection of all Banksia Species growing on our property.  Most of these are well established specimens and many have flowered.

Banksia Farm's 5 hectares of well established display gardens were established in the late 1980's and are located in Mount Barker (3.5hrs South of Perth).  It provides a unique one-stop-shop for wildflower enthusiasts and something just a bit different for the tourist.  Banksia Farm is your chance to see the rare B brownii and even the semitropical B robur.

Banksia Farm has established itself as "The Banksia HUB of Australia" and has hosted many events and special guests.

1. "Banksias", our first foray into writing with botanist Alex George, is a comprehensive 376 page book and was successfully launched 8th November 2008 at our property, Banksia Farm.

2. Annual Celebration of Wildflowers (Mount Barker W.A.) ----- (Mid August to Mid November)
   We pay special tribute to W.A.'s beautiful wildflowers in the Spring time by naming the many species in the bush land behind our property, and pick and label a few specimens (being mindful of conservation issues).
   For those who take a garden walk, free maps to these special wildflower locations near our property are available at the gallery.
   One location has around 100 named species on a scenic jarrah/marri woodland walk.  (Half hour to three hour walk options).
   The second location is an orchid hotspot with named species (allow 30minutes minimum).
   
   

3. American Lecture Tour
   We are now in the process of planning a lecture tour to various Botanic Gardens, Universities, Banksia Nurseries and Banksia flow growers in U.S.A.  THe trip is planned for 2011 or 2012.  Places on current itinerary include: Longwood Gardens, Pennysylvania; Australian Native Plants Nursery, Ventura, CA; Santa Cruz Botanic Gardens, CA; Banksia Growers in CA, Portland, Oregan and Alaska.
